What is the South Atlanta Project?

A project that aims to enrich the lives of seniors in the South Atlanta community through grandparent adoption, community development and education

What are the goals of the project?
Keeping elders in their homes and providing them with a safe community and a caring friend

Where is South Atlanta?
The South Atlanta community is located one mile south of Turner Field.

How many seniors will be served?
As many as 100 — each South Atlanta senior will be invited to participate.

How long will it take to revive South Atlanta and match seniors with volunteers?
Three years

How much will all this cost?
Approximately $500,000

Where will the money come from?
Private donors will contribute the majority of the funds. A fundraising campaign — Operation Silver Strand — is currently underway.

How is Adopt-A-Grandparent involved?
Program Director Linda Langstraat is spearheading the project. She will meet personally with each South Atlanta senior and match those interested with a volunteer.
